Frequently Asked questions

How does Puncture Proof seal a hole in the tread of a tyre?
Puncture Proof lays down a thin protective coating
between the inside tread of the tyre and the air within the tyre. When an object penetrates the tread area, the air pressure within the tyre forces the sealant into the puncture wound, where the tiny rubber particles seal the leak.

How does Puncture Proof prevent
porosity, bead and slow air leaks?

The air pressure within the tyre forces the sealant towards any weak point. As Puncture Proof travels ahead of the air, it locates and seals any potential leakage area, thus ensuring no loss of air pressure.

Must a tyre be run after a penetrating object has been removed?
Yes. Although Puncture Proof has covered the area left by the cavity, it has not entered it. Therefore the tyre must be run in order to snap open the cavity and allow the Puncture Proof to enter. Once again, the vehicle must be driven after the removal of any object.

Will Puncture Proof seal a puncture in the sidewall of a tyre?
No. It may seal the puncture temporarily and get the driver back to safety, but will slowly lose air as the structural integrity of the tyre has been compromised.

Will Puncture Proof create a hard plug in the tread area of a tyre?
No. Puncture Proof is designed to flex with the tyre as it moves.

Will Puncture Proof dry out and ball-up in a tyre?
No. Because the tyre is a sealed chamber, no evaporation of the liquid can occur and it will remain in the same condition it was in when it was inserted into the tyre.

Can Puncture Proof block up the valve stem whilst it is being inserted?
Yes. Should this happen, remove the pump
nozzle and allow a short blast of air to clear the
blockage. Reattach nozzle and continue. (On rare
occasions, pumping too fast may cause the
rubber granules to block the valve stem).

What is the difference between Puncture Proof and other products sold in aerosol cans?
Aerosol products are a temporary quick fix after the puncture has occurred. They break down inside the tyre causing serious safety concerns with
imbalancing and are highly toxic. In comparison,
Puncture Proof is a high quality preventative
product that does not break down inside the tyre and is non toxic.

Is Puncture Proof flammable?
No.

Is Puncture Proof toxic?
No. Puncture Proof is environmentally friendly.

Does Puncture Proof affect the tyre manufacturer’s warranty?
No. As it does not react with the tyre components, it cannot affect the manufacturer’s warranty.

Can Puncture Proof be installed into used tyres?
Yes.

Can Puncture Proof be installed into retreads?
Yes. Retreadability is actually increased and tread separation is minimised.

Does Puncture Proof react chemically within a tyre?
No. Puncture Proof is chemically inert.

Is Puncture Proof affected by extreme temperatures?
Puncture Proof can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 120°C. The sealant will remain in stable condition until heat so extreme, the tyre itself will disintegrate.

Can it be installed into tractor tyres that contain water?
No. The product is water soluable and therefore disperses when it comes into contact with the water.

Will Puncture Proof rust the rim / or steel belts of a tyre?
No. Puncture Proof actually contains anticorrosive agents to prevent corrosion from occurring.

Does Puncture Proof give a guarantee?
Yes. Puncture Proof’s 100% tubeless tyre guarantee seals punctures in the tread area up to 6mm in 4-8 ply tyres, and 12mm for 10ply+ tyres for the entire working life of the tyre.

What can be expected after Puncture Proof is installed?
The tyre is sealed to prevent any future air loss. Puncture Proof seals slow air leaks and any porosity or bead leaks, it eliminates punctures, maintains correct air pressure, prevents overheating and extends the life of your tyre.

What type of tyres can be installed with Puncture Proof?
You can use Puncture Proof in any pneumatic tyre.

Can tubed tyres be installed with Puncture Proof?
Yes. However, we are unable to 100% guarantee it’s success as the age and quality of the tube is unknown. Fortunately, 85% of all tubed tyres installed with Puncture Proof to date have been successful.

How much pressure can be pumped against using the hand pump?
You can pump against pressures of up to 70 psi.

How much Puncture Proof is expelled with a full stroke of the hand pump?
The hand pump delivers 100 mls with every full stroke.

What is the difference between Puncture Proof and other tyre sealants?
Puncture Proof is environmentally friendly, comes with a warranty and will not break down at high speed. It conditions tyres, has excellent cooling capabilities and also contains corrosive inhibitors. Puncture Proof will outlast the life of a tyre.

Can Puncture Proof cause a balancing problem?
No. If all tyres are correctly balanced prior to installation on smaller passenger vehicles, there will be no issue.

How much Puncture Proof can be installed into a tyre?
There are precise measurements to be calculated for each specific tyre. Refer to Pricing Page or contact us direct.

What is the shelf life of Puncture Proof?
If container is kept sealed, out of direct sunlight
and maintained in a temperate space, Puncture
Proof will last indefinately.

Can I adjust the pressure in my 4WD tyres after Puncture Proof has been installed?
Yes you can. Puncture Proof never comes into contact with the air valve after installation, so you can continue to adjust your pressures for the life of your tyres.

Puncture Proof is a multipurpose liquid tyre sealant and coolant that is injected into each tyre through the air valve. Requiring only one application, it’s function is to coat the inside of the tyre, thereby preventing punctures, maintaining correct air pressure and lowering tyre casing temperature. Puncture Proof eliminates flat tyres, increases tyre life and improves fuel efficiency.
